Vela was born in Mexico City and as an artist was heavily influenced by local culture. He was known for his cityscape paintings, bullfights and Indian art. Alberto Vela used charcoal, watercolors and oil primarily to create his works of art. His life in the US was centered around Illinois and then later Redlands/Calimesa, Ca.
