Lot #53 - Large Vintage 2007 Original Abstract Acrylic on Canvas 'Cut Away' by Robert 'Bob' McGill, 48x48 Inches
Robert L. “Bob” McGill was a highly respected North State artist and dedicated art educator whose influence helped shape the creative community in and around Redding, California. Joining the Shasta College art faculty in 1970 after teaching at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, McGill became known as a bright, enthusiastic instructor who connected deeply with his students and inspired generations of artists.
An active and collaborative figure, he exhibited in galleries throughout San Francisco and Los Angeles, shared studio space with fellow artists, and continually explored new ideas and inventive concepts. His later work included a notable painting series inspired by the elements of the periodic table, reflecting both his curiosity and creative vision.
McGill’s legacy lives on through the many artists he mentored and through his work held in the collection of Turtle Bay Exploration Park, where it continues to be appreciated by the community he helped enrich.
